No Permit to Reopen Cola Units

PALAKKAD: The Finance Minister, K. Sankaranarayanan, has
said that the Government will not give permission to reopen cola
companies since they are opposed by the people for depleting their
groundwater.
Speaking at the inaugural function of the 12th edition of Mathrubhumi
daily here today, the Minister said that "even if the court allow
these companies to reopen, the Government cannot allow it.''
In his inaugural address Shekari Varma, son of the late K.P. Kesava
Menon, the founder editor of Mathrubhumi said Palakkad was unique in
many ways.
The K.P. Kesava Menon complex was dedicated by the Leader of the
Opposition, V.S. Achuthanandan. The function was presided over by M.P.
Veerendrakumar, MP and Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Mathrubhumi
publications.
